Advising on school fees
Our consultants were the first to identify the gap between earnings and independent school fees. We are often asked to advise on fees and positioning.
Recently we were approached by the head of a Society of Heads boarding and day school who wanted to reduce school fees to increase market share.
MTC made an assessment of the economy in the region, the strengths and positioning of the competitors, their fee level and value of bursaries awarded in each school. Using our Catchmentor system we assessed the pupil numbers and fees in competitor schools over years, and the market share achieved by each.
We estimated the additional pupils that would be required if fees were reduced, and assessed whether the school could improve its market share by the number of pupils required. The impact of competitor retaliation was assessed. MTC advised on options open to the school and the risks related with each.
This put the school in a strong position to make an informed decision about fees.
