Advice on school location and transport
A group of charitable schools wanted to move a prep school from an existing site to a new one in the county. The new site had the benefit of commercial opportunities and enabled the group to create a feeder prep for two of its senior schools. The group were concerned that the market in the new location might not support a prep school, and they would lose existing families if they couldn’t access the new site.
MTC identified the location and number of potential buyers in families who could afford the fees in the new market, advised on a transport strategy to enable existing and new buyers to access the site and quantified suitability, feasibility and risk of the move.
MTC’s input helped the group to reconfigure their portfolio in a specific region, achieve more control over the market and the feed into its senior schools, thereby enhancing recruitment.
