Advice on restructuring
A charitable group had one school that had faced difficult trading conditions. It was time to decide whether to invest in the school or divest.
MTC carried out a tailored in-depth Catchmentor to understand the real demand for their current offering in a complex regional market with high levels of non-traditional new buyers. The impact of competitors was quantified and the quality of marketing and admissions reviewed. A range of options were investigated including changing the age range, changing the offer, amending the fees, moving the school, or closure. Demand for the next ten years was assessed, recommendations were made about making the offer more attractive and how marketing and admissions could be improved to promote the new offering. Advice was given on how a dynamic new transport system could be introduced and recommendations made about the fee levels.
The group made the decision to restructure the school by moving some of the offering to another campus, amended the existing offering, cranked up the marketing, reduced the fees and invested in the existing site. It is now reclaiming the market share that it had lost to its competitors.
